Christmas Fun

This year we decided we wanted to have more festive fun in our classes and around the school.

Firstly, we met as a School Council where we were challenged with gathering ideas from our classmates about how we could have some festive fun. After 2 weeks to gather our ideas, we met again and shared our year group’s ideas with the rest of School Council. We made a big list of our ideas and discussed which ideas were realistic and which ones were not. From our list, we narrowed it down to 16 fun ideas and created our ‘Birchgrove Festive Fun Bingo’. Each class was given a copy and told they could complete as many or as few as they liked as a class. Some of the ideas are things we already do, like play games at the Christmas party, and some ideas were new ideas, like the secret elves and reverse advent calendar. School Council members from Year 6 wrote a short assembly about one idea in particular - the reverse advent calendar. They explained to pupils how the reverse advent calendar worked and how we needed their support with this idea in particular. The overall response to this was very positive - especially from the teachers!
